Richard James (Dick) Kidd

Machine Gun Corps

Next Of Kin: Dick Kidd was originally from Taranaki, and spent time in the Featherston Camp with the NZ Mounted Rifles before embarking. He was transferred to the Camel Corps in Egypt and then the Machine Gun Corps before being invalided home. He was one of four brothers who served during the war, two being killed in action and another dying on the day he returned to New Zealand. Two of his three sisters also served as nurses overseas. Dick Kidd came to Papatawa after the war where he remained for the rest of his life.
