Next Of Kin: Born in Waipukurau in 1891, the third of five children. Farmed "Campfield', a hill country farm of about 1000 acres in Kumeroa, which he inherited from his father, JIN Mackie. There was a Maori Pa there and he learned to speak Maori. Before the war he worked for an uncle at Tangoio. He enlisted in 1917 and served in Egypt and Palestine. After the war he farmed in Kumeroa.
